Need it to clone 0.5 to VM for kralizec upgrade testing. Will probably do it with manually Clonezilla.
Backup a live system

For a quick backup / restore - Try checking out REAR (Relax and Recover) - http://relax-and-recover.org/
-
Looks interesting. I will have to check it out. Good find
-
It's a brilliant tool, we use it pretty much anywhere we can - Easy restore, and it's not locked to hardware, so it can be restored on any machine.
-
Testing it in a VM right now. Seems very handy.

The backup plugin has a nice integration with clonezilla and it works fine. It's not a live backup as you have to boot on clonezilla (from the WebGUI !) but in return using clonezilla for restore is very safe and easy
-
Just installed the Backup-Plugin, but there is no chance to Backup my System.
I only can select my Data-HDD, not the System-Disk.Is there another way to backup my system-disk easily? (Without creating an own script?)
Thanks.

Sry, but I'm not!
I'm going:
Services -> Backup -> Add
New Window comes up.
Here I can select:--------
Enabled
Comment
Source Folder
One Filesystem only
Target FolderCron & rsync Settings
----------Under Source Folder I only can select shared folders, my System-Disk is not even visible.
Thanks.

That is the openmediavault-rsnapshot plugin not the openmediavault-backup (which tekkbebe thought you were using because that is what this thread is kind of about). So, this is the wrong thread for that. You can't backup the system drive with the rsnapshot plugin.
-
OK, thanks.
Then it's not the wrong Thread, it was the wrong PluginNow I have the right one.
What have I to do with the option "Path" ?
I can nothing fill in there... is it not neccessary? Thanks!
-
When you select a Volume and the click Backup, it will fill in the path. The box is read only so you can't put anything in it anyway.
-
Thank you very much! worked fine!
Whats about the possibility to restore via the GUI?
Will it be implemented soon or is it wanted to restore with terminal? Thanks.
-
I don't think there will ever be a restore that works from the GUI. Restoring by booting clonezilla is still the best way in my opinion.
-
Okay.
Thank you! -
Can i use my RAID 5 as target for Clonezilla?
-
Yes. Clonezilla starts mdadm and detects raid arrays.
-
I tried to backup my system with your plugin (via Clonezille) but if I chose the Clonezilla entry in the grub menu the boot process failed.
See attached image. Is there anything else to do than pressing the install button in the webgui to make this method work?
The required ISO is present in /boot
Code
