is it possible to change the default webpage in omv where yo login ?
as it nots possible to change the admin user name maybe the index page can be changed so that it doesn't display openmediavault thus not giving people a helping hand on trying to hack it by not knowing which app is running behind the page ?

So your OMV is facing the Internet as an exposed host? Either use specific port forwardings or setup iptables to block communications on port 80 TCP from anything besides your LAN subnet.

"Secureness by obscureness" does not work! Many times tried, many times failed. If you want to secure your installation, use a firewall and of course an appropriate password! The username doesn't really matter when it comes to an attack. -
Create a certificate and enable ssl (https), force it too. It's that simple.

i am using force secure, on a high port, with a cert but it doesn't stop it being found and tried.

But why are you worried? When you sign in it is encrypted. Lots of things use admin. Just make sure you use a strong password. You will not have any issues.
