OMV as a NVR for Ubiquity air cam

  • Hi,

would it be possible to use OMV as a NVR for IP cameras. I use Ubiquity air cam.
I would like to save motion record directly on the RAID on OMV. Or eaven better use OMV as a software to actualy register the motion and record it.

Am kinda new in this so ask for more info.

    Tnx

Not sure what an NVR is? If the air cam can record to samba or NFS, then OMV will work. There is no plugin for motion software.

  • Nvr I think is network video recorder. We have them at work in the schools just the control/storage that the ip cameras connect to an record.

    OMV 5 - 64 bit
    Dell T430, 16gb Ram, 5 x 3TB HDD Raid5, 1 x 120GB 2.5" SSD (OS)

  • I can help you here.

If you install debian as per normal, then add the repo for OMV, install OMV as per wiki

You are then able to add the ubiquiti repo and install the Unifi Video software (version 3+) and it works fine. It operates on a separate port.

I have this working and other than the initial stuffing around works fine.

For me best bet was as follows

    Install Debian to OS disk
Install OMV via repo as per Wiki
    Install Unifi video via repo
Insert hard drives for storage, and configure RAID etc via OMV
configure Unifi Video to store on RAID

seems to work fine so far :)
