Did you set your dns server?
in web-gui
system/network and then on right dns server
primary= ip of your router
secondary= 8.8.8.8 -
after setting the dns server the lan died.
-
Do you know what ip of your router is???
-
192.168.1.1
if I put that IP on my web browser and I get the Router configuration web-gui
If it isn't I'm the king of the noobs. -
Do you think you setup the static ip and dns correctly??? Your router may be hanging. I would try to unplug it, wait 5 seconds and plug back in. See if everything is ok then.
-
Got the problem.
I checked /etc/network/interfaces
after setting the DNS, static ip configuration disapeared.
I'll report results after setting it up. -
example file...
Code
Alles anzeigen# The loopback network interface auto lo iface lo inet loopback iface lo inet6 loopback # eth0 network interface auto eth0 allow-hotplug eth0 iface eth0 inet static address 192.168.1.67 gateway 192.168.1.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 dns-nameservers 192.168.1.1 8.8.8.8 iface eth0 inet6 manual pre-down ip -6 addr flush dev eth0
-
after restarting network services lan works but internet doesn't
-
internet is working but name server is not. go in command line and do this:
ping 8.8.8.8 -c4
-

Your internet is find. Your are reaching Google's server. It is just not doing name lookups. What router do you have???
Do you know how to a static lease??? soz
Your router is acting goofy but we can do a static lease instead and set you back to dynamic in omv web-gui.
Your router should assign same ip to your omv with the static lease. Give more info. on your router ( and firmware if 3rd party). -
No I don't, I'm new on the wonderful world of debian servers.
Router: Comtrend ar-5387un -
It's ok man. Router info. please. Ryeco and I both use static leases and if you learn how they work the are better then static ips.
Ok, I see it. soz. Jumping around to much.
It has standard. You see on your setting screen for router "Comtrend ADSL Router" ????
-
I don't kow what is that, sorry.
I found this: http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/comtrend/ar5387un
Is it an instalation guide? You see on your setting screen for router "Comtrend ADSL Router" ????
yes -
I'm looking here:
http://screenshots.portforward…outers/Comtrend/AR-5381u/
You have normal firmware and not 3rd Party.
-
Same firmware as photos
-
I see a section that shows dhcp leases. Do you see anything when you go thru the screens that says "static lease"???
-
If you look at 2nd picture on this site you will see what it looks like on my router.
http://www.wachs.org/2007/12/dd-wrt-static-leases.html
You put in the mac address of you OMV NIC, a host name (which can be anything), and the ip you want to use on your LAN.
Then reboot machine. It should assign the ip you choose to the machine.

Might be this?
