fsck error 8

  • Hello,

today I installed miniDNLA and configered the Datadrive on my testsystem, just for playing
around with my new smart TV.

Everything works fine after a while after I had deleted the datadrive in OMV and then cofigured
it for aigain SMB and the dlna plugin.

I only wondered, bcs there now was a "missing" device, which I can't mount, unmount or delete.

This is the error log :

    Log of fsck -C -R -A -a
    Mon Apr 21 22:25:29 2014

    fsck from util-linux-ng 2.17.2
    fsck.ext4: Unable to resolve 'UUID=d4ec3ffd-d513-487e-8253-f0f26ed39328'
    NASLW1: clean, 202/19537920 files, 1867831/78142545 blocks
fsck died with exit status 8

Therefore omv doesn't start completely anymore. Linux stops and wants to enter the
service mode with "ctrl D ". If i enter crtl D, error message appears but OMV starts
    and works ! ?

As I learned from other thread, I think I made a mistake bcs. now there is a missing object.
I should delete the object in the config file.

I looked at it, but absolutely don't know what to change or delete there.

    In the config file I found "d4ec3ffd-d513-487e-8253-f0f26ed39328" three times . ? ?

Should I delete the whole blocks quota and mntent ?

Can you advice me pls what to do or delete exactly.

    THX in advance.

  • Did you remove the particular drive? If so you're fine removing it from config.xml, but do a backup first.

  • David,

thx, no not yet removed the drive.

I'll do that and don't take care of the data, bcs there are only some mpg4 for testing the minidlna with my smart tv.

As I understand you: If I remove the drive then the config file is automatically "adjusted" and the mistery-entry will
    disapear.

    Update :

This method didn't work here. Things even got more worse. Now I've two missing drives.

I inserted the data drive again and started the system , same situation as I started this thread here. ! ?

  • Hello,

back from a short holiday trip, but unfortunately I've got no further advice for my problem.

As in my "update" mentioned the method davidh2k described didn't work for me.

Is there a possibility to get back on the air or is it necessary to install from scratch again ?

    THX in advance.

  • I did not saw your edit, I sometimes visit the forum so frequently that I do not even see an edit one minute after posting.

Therefore, pleas give me the following outputs please:

    Code
    blkid
    df -h
    cat /etc/
    xmlstarlet ed -P -u \"//*/password\" -v \"xxxxx\" /etc/openmediavault/config.xml.bak
    cat /etc/openmediavault/config.xml.bak

And if your Webinterface is still working, a screenshot from the filesystems tab.
