2RAID and 2 mode for File System

  • I've due RAID in a new OMV installation: 2 HD WDB Blue 320GB in Mirroring and 4 HD WD Green 1TB in RAID5.
I've installed OMV, then I connected the disks and wipe them.
Then I've create the two RAID.

Now, after the full sync, in File System menu I see the /dev/md127 about the RAID5 with ext4. I've only mount it.
Instead I see nothing about the two disk in mirroring.
I have to create, select the device /dev/md126 and then format it with ext4.

Why two mode to present the file system?

Finally, mounting the file system with RAID5 gave me an error and so I had to delete this file system and create a new one.

I'm sorry but this is a clean first installation and I worry when the NAS discs behave in a "non-standard" mode. ?(

Thanks in advance for your help.

    2 HDD WD Blue 320GB RAID2
    4 HDD WD Green 1TB RAID5

  • Okay, I hope I got this right.

You have a RAID1 with two 320GB disks and a RAID5 with 4 1TB Disks. After you created the RAID's only the RAID5 showed up on which you created an EXT4 filesystem, did I get that right so far?
So basically your RAID1 is missing somehow ? What's the output of

    Code
    cat /proc/mdstat
  • In this forum how to set the "code" ?
However it is at the post footer.

Yes, only RAID5 has created ext4, but then only Mirroring was ountable.
I've deleted the FS of RAID5 and then create again.

Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Maybe I have not explained well.
With a new and clean installation of OMV+Update+pluging:
    1) I've wiped the 6 disks
    2) Creating RAID1, OMV did not create the File System
    3) Creating RAID5. OMV has created the File System
    4) Then I created the FS for the RAID1 from OMV and I mounted it without problems
    5) Then I mounted the FS of the RAID5 (created automatically) but it gave me an error
    6) So, I deleted the FS of the RAID5
    7) Then I created the FS for the RAID5 by OMV and now I mounted it without problems

Now I have both FS and I'm working

So now I have no problems, but I signalled the strange and worrying behavior creating the two RAID volumes.
