Some clarification about remoteshare plugin

  • In the remoteshare plugin I have to indicate the shared folder in OMV.
    What is its scope?

In a Linux server I have a NTF folder named Folder1
In OMV I have the shared folder named Remote1 linked to Folder1
So if in my PC I browse Remote1 I see the contents of Folder1?
    Is it rights?

In the OMV CLI with MC (Midnight Commander) if I browse Remote1 I'm able to see the contents of Remote1, too?

I have to move the contents from this NTF folder to OMV.
So I wish to know if I can do this from OMV (with MC or eXtplorer) or if I I need to connect my PC both Remote1 that Folder1, then cut and paste files.

Thanks in advance for your help.

You select a shared folder to mount the remote share on. This allows you to use that shared folder (and the remote content) in other plugins in OMV.

    NTF?? What is that? nfs?

If Remote1 is setup as a samba share, you could browse it.

To move files, create a new folder on the OMV box called folder2. Then create an rsync job that syncs Remote1 to folder2 and run it. Files are now on the OMV box.
