No GUI after install openmediavault-transmissionbt

  • Code
    oot@CEREBELLUM:~# /etc/init.d/transmission-daemon stop
    Stopping bittorrent daemon: transmission-daemon.
    root@CEREBELLUM:~# mv /etc/default/transmission-daemon /etc/default/transmission-daemon.bk
    root@CEREBELLUM:~# omv-mkconf transmissionbt
    root@CEREBELLUM:~# /etc/init.d/transmission-daemon start
Starting bittorrent daemon: transmission-daemon (disabled) (warning).
    root@CEREBELLUM:~#

    :(
The way I see it remains the only full reinstall

  • Show the output of stat /etc/transmission-daemon/ and /var/lib/transmission-daemon/info

  • Did you try to connect with IE or a different browser???? This looks like issue with new security that is in chrome.

    root@CEREBELLUM:~# /etc/init.d/transmission-daemon start
Starting bittorrent daemon: transmission-daemon (disabled) (warning).

  • Nah, according to googlefu it might just be a missmatching ownership. ;)

  • I'm sorry, but why are you suggesting starting and stopping transmission when the GUI isn't working after installing the plugin? When the GUI doesn't work, start by debugging the frontend.

    • Open the web developer tools and open the console. Reload the page. Does it indicate any errors (different browser give different outputs which help)?
    • Try doing the same with the network tab, any page displaying any error code >= 400?
    • Run the RPC in debug mode omv-engined -d -f, don't forget to stop the service first. Try to reload the page and see if anything interesting shows up in the terminal.
  • Pardon HK-47, I overlooked that it isn't showing up in GUI and focused on the CLI output I saw, which suggests that there are permission problems.

  • No worries, it was just an observation. The service
won't start because the plugin hasn't enabled it in the defaults file (that's what the warning is for) and it can't be enabled because he can't reach the GUI :) Without any proper debug info it's hard to tell what's the issue.
