MHDDFS kernel error

  • I just started having a problem with the mhddfs plugin recently. It has been fine for a few weeks until the last day or two.

I am on the kralizec latest update.

The pool unmounts and I have to reboot to get it to show up again...

In the syslog this message is displayed:

    Oct 11 07:52:02 openmediavault kernel: [226124.224177] mhddfs[9324]: segfault at 0 ip 000000000040443c sp 00007f3245ffa9d0 error 4 in mhddfs[400000+a000]

I found this info that may be related to the error:

    https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=728310

Anyone else have this issue or can offer a solution?

    Thanks.

This is the first I have heard of it. Unfortunately, the debian bug report doesn't have a solution. What kernel are you using?

Did it happen after updating to 3.16 kernel?

A few months ago, the backports kernel was 3.14. Now, it is 3.16. Just curious if you just switched to 3.16.

  • Did you figure this out? I'm having a similar issue.

mhddfs seems to segfault randomly. This has happened several times now during heavy writes via SMB or local rsync. This is a newly built system so it hasn't had much idle time, I can't say whether the stress is related.

Here's the dmesg messages from today:

    [128020.013095] mhddfs[19977]: segfault at 0 ip 000000000040443c sp 00007f7ea48c29d0 error 4 in mhddfs[400000+a000]

    Kernel 3.2.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.2.63-2+deb7u2 x86_64

  • No luck either...I still have this issue too...it is random, but mostly when writing or deleting a large amount of data...

I want to try the new unionfs plugin and drop mhddfs and try AUFS because of this problem, but the option to select shares to add to the pool has been removed....only full drives are added to the pool.

This won't work for me....I don't want to risk having my pool unmount when writing to my mysql database or have to reconfigure my 12tb of storage...

I asked if this option could be added back to the plugin, but I don't think the developer wants too...so right now I am stuck...

  • I don't want to risk having my pool unmount when writing to my mysql database

Ever thought about directly selecting a hard disk for mysql instead of the pool?

    Greetings
    David

I definitely would not use a pool for a mysql database location.

I definitely would not use a pool for a mysql database location.

That is the way I have it now...MYSQL is not on any pool.

I am using the original mhddfs plugin and have it set up and working correctly...
3 drives and 3 folders poolshare1-3 added to the poolshare
poolshare is the mount point on drive 1 for mhddfs

on my drive1 I also have my cp, sb, hp, sab backups and my MYSQL DB....they are all on the root of the HD...not in the pool...

Is there a way to replicate this setup with the new unionfs plugin?

I dont see a way to not have my whole drives added to the pool...that is why I am still on the old mhddfs plugin...
