S.M.A.R.T. Test on my NAS

  • Hi
I have a Windows 2012 R2 Hyper-V Server. OMV is a VM and 3 WD RED 4 TB Disks are passtrough assigned to the VM. In OMV i had created a RAID5 with EXT4.
    All works fine, except S.M.A.R.T.

I had enabled SMART in the Settings and also on the Disks. When i open the information of a disk i had no informations and under extended information i have the following output:

    smartctl 5.41 2011-06-09 r3365 [x86_64-linux-3.2.0-4-amd64] (local build)
    Copyright (C) 2002-11 by Bruce Allen, http://smartmontools.sourceforge.net

    Vendor: WDC
    Product: WD40EFRX-68WT0N0
    Revision: 82.0
User Capacity: 4,000,787,030,016 bytes [4.00 TB]
    Logical block size: 512 bytes
    >> Terminate command early due to bad response to IEC mode page
A mandatory SMART command failed: exiting. To continue, add one or more '-T permissive' options.

If I execute a short-sefl test i receive the following error:
    smartctl 5.41 2011-06-09 r3365 [x86_64-linux-3.2.0-4-amd64] (local build)
    Copyright (C) 2002-11 by Bruce Allen, http://smartmontools.sourceforge.net

Short offline self test failed [Input/output error]

What is the problem. Is SMART in my environment (passthrough Disks) not supported?

    Thanks.
