File system volume changed label?!?

  • I just noticed that the file system label of my data raid vilume.

When I created the file system I labeled it "Backup", but now it's labeled "//192.168.1.10/B".

This makes it abiw aawkward when looking at the shared folders.

This is what the volume list look like:

And this is what the Shared folders list look like:

"Backup" and "Quarantine" are local shares while "Bilder" and "Public" are remote SMB shares, but confusingly they all looks like they are on the same volume?

So, is there any whay to change the File system label, and how did it change in the first place?

  • I can't tell you why it changed, but how to change it back.
    Printing the current label:

    Code
    # e2label /dev/md0

    Change the label to "Backup":

    Code
    # e2label /dev/md0 Backup

I have seen this before but can't duplicate it. Do you have a space in your shared folder name or path?

That shouldn't be a problem. I guess I will have to look at another way of getting the volume title.

Luckily, the volume name is all it changes from what I have seen. Still not sure why. I think submitted changing the volume as a feature request on bugtracker. Will have to look for it.

  • Any news about the option to change the label of a disk under filesystems?
Looks like it's still not available.

Would be nice if f.e. HDDs moved to another system.
