Compiling V4L-DVB drivers for dvb card

  • I have an rtl 2802

When trying to follow instructions from : http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/in…ll_V4L-DVB_Device_Drivers

    I get:

Can anyone help with this setting?

  • Where is the problem with dooing what it is suggesting to do?

Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former.

  • So I tried doing what it said:

    Code
    root@omv:~/media_build# make kernel-links
    make -C /root/media_build/v4l kernel-links
    make[1]: Entering directory `/root/media_build/v4l'
    cd ..; v4l/scripts/makelinks.sh /lib/modules/3.2.0-4-amd64/source
    patching /lib/modules/3.2.0-4-amd64/source...
find: `Documentation': No such file or directory
find: `Documentation': No such file or directory
    make[1]: Leaving directory `/root/media_build/v4l'

And still got the same message after

  • i I do not understand what you mean.

I tried doing "./build --main-git" and it does not work, same results.

    Maybe a little more guidence?

    And thanks in advance

  • Funny thing, I actually had to install the same driver ( I think its the same ) for my old DVB-S card to test around with vdr. After 4 hours I used this solution (in german, but you should get the idea out of it)

  • so now I am stuck with:

    Code
    root@omv:~# sudo apt-get install linux-firmware-nonfree
    Reading package lists... Done
    Building dependency tree
    Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package linux-firmware-nonfree
    root@omv:~#

I know I need to add the apturl but:

So I cannot get this to work on omv latest

  • Maybe because the package name isn't correct:

    Code
    root@srv001 ~ # apt-cache search firmware-linux-nonfree
firmware-linux-nonfree - Binary firmware for various drivers in the Linux kernel
    root@srv001 ~ #

  • Nope still the same issue.

    Code
    root@omv:~/media_build# make kernel-links
    make -C /root/media_build/v4l kernel-links
    make[1]: Entering directory `/root/media_build/v4l'

    I tried following this link:

    Which led me here:

    https://github.com/ambrosa/DVB…-3.0.0/blob/master/README

    and he said:

    Code
    (except I usedKBUILD_SRC=/home/[...]/linux-3.2.1 makeinstead ofmake

how do I use KBUILD_SRC (where is the linux - i think 3.2.0 code)

  • Are your kernel headers installed?

    • Offizieller Beitrag

There is a new button on the Kernel tab of omv-extras that will install the headers for the currently running kernel.

    omv 7.0.5-1 sandworm | 64 bit | 6.8 proxmox kernel

    plugins :: omvextrasorg 7.0 | kvm 7.0.13 | compose 7.1.4 | k8s 7.1.0-3 | cputemp 7.0.1 | mergerfs 7.0.4

omv-extras.org plugins source code and issue tracker - github - changelogs

Please try ctrl-shift-R and read this before posting a question.

Please put your OMV system details in your signature.
Please don't PM for support... Too many PMs!

  • Came back to this, since I just got around for another round on this.
I have all the headers and such, but still the same errors.

    I did see :
    http://www.solid-run.com/archi…b/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=719

same issue, and they solved it using :

    zcat /proc/config.gz > /lib/modules/2.6.32.9-dove-5.4.2/build/.config
    (the full scenario is here:
    http://davidtordrup.dk/wordpre…ision-tuner-on-the-cubox/
    )

which will allow to turn certain modules on, only config.gz (which I confess I do not know what it should do and why it not there) is not tehre.
Anything I can do for this to work?

  • Maybe you have better luck in forums specified for this kind of devices.
