Websites plugin killed my WebGUI

  • I was playing around with the openmediavault-websites plugin, thinking it might be cool to set up a web server to share a couple of files, but when I set it to "enabled", the OMV WebGUI stopped working. I had the WebGUI set to SSL only on port 8080, and now it's not responding any more. The website I set up was on port 80 with no SSL.

Any ideas how to get the WebGUI back ?

Is ssh enabled? The output of omv-showkey nginx would help. You must have a bad setting.

  • Does this help ?

  • I was playing around

Do you think an administrator of IBM would play around on a production server? No? Then tell me why do you?

  • Ignore it. Did you do the checks I mentioned?

You need to move the port for http access to the OMV web gui if you want to use your website at port 80.

You need to edit this file:
    /etc/nginx/sites-availabe/openmediavault-webgui

Change this line to port 81:
    listen [::]:81 default_server ipv6only=off;

Then nginx should start and you should be able to access the web gui via https 8080 or http 81

Decide what port you want for http access of the web gui and edit it at System/Geneal Settings once in the web gui.

  • Nope, not running:

  • We can check but he tried to put a website on same port as the web gui http with the nginx plugin.

Nibb, nginx might not start because of incorrect settings of the site you were trying to setup too.
You can uninstall the plugin if nginx is still not starting.

    apt-get --purge remove opemediavault-nginx

I don't think it is apache. It is a configuration issue. It is hard to give the plugin flexibility but still make it impossible to mess up OMV's web interface.

What is the output of: service nginx configtest

He changed the port to 8080 but then I realized he changed the SSL port to 8080. So, that probably is it. omv-firstaid should fix the problem by setting the non-ssl port to something other than 80. service nginx configtest will confirm it.
