Are you sure?, I can't think of a nic card in the last 10 years that doesn't come with that. Maybe I am wrong...but is just my experience from what i've seen
What does ethtool eth0 & ethtool -i eth0 indicate?
You're right it happens that I have the source of the backport kernel in my VM and indeed the patch here
http://git.kernel.org/cgit/lin…a6482c9cc370b0dd72ffe8cd2
is already applied already.
Apparently is the same bug that has realtek, system reboots or resumes when wol enabled.
You can grab the source and revert the patches maybe and build your custom module
How can i test the patch? if it doensn´t work, how can use the old driver?!
Sorry, but this is my first Linux system.
how can use the old driver?!
Do you have backports kernel installed or the original wheezy kernel? I would guess the original wheezy kernel 3.2 has not this kernel patch.
Your current running kernel is uname -r, you can check the installed ones with ls -la /lib/modules
i use the Backportkernel 3.16
with 3.2 the NIC was not Supported...
when was the last time you checked? According to changelog support was added to 3.2
It has less devices, is yours missing from there? you can check with lspci
The first Kernel was 3.2.0-4 with this i had no NIC support (AR8171)
this is the lspci answer:
but there is no pci alias...

The device that's missing is your card BTW, sorry.
I would recommend you to get an intel card. For every kernel upgrade you're gonna be facing the same problem. That patch hasn't move in a year so they probably not gonna enable it again.
If you're still pursuing the undo-patch route i'd recommend you to go to the debian forums to seek help on how to do that.
PD:I would be really mad if features of my hardware get removed.
Thank you!
Can´t understand why this NIC make so many problems...
I hope this one works?!
Intel® Gigabit CT Desktop Adapter, Netzwerkadapter(EXPI9301CT, Bulk)
I am surprised from atheros. That intel nic shouldn't make any problems. But I would double check that the device alias is supported in the kernel module.
I can take a look tomorrow
Yes. It should work.
It works great! Thank you!
