  • Hello,

I am sorry but I am having the same problem.
I just installed mysql to a database for kodi.

I'm on OMV 1.18 and mywebsql is version 3.6
What are the login and password?

I reset the password in OMV and when I want to connect with the login "root" and "my password" I get the message "The database connection failed on server".

    Do you have any idea?
    Thank you in advance
    Michael

  • Hi,
I had the same problem when reinstalling MySQL plugin.
MySQL came up, I reset the MySQL root-pw several times in the gui without effect.
I could not login in mywebsql.
So I set the MySQL root-pw manually this way (or similar :/ ).
    Database is working fine now.
Changing PW in the gui still doesn't work. ?(

It works on my three systems. Can't duplicate this. Must be a permission issue with shared folder selected. Next mysql plugin won't have a database location eliminating this issue.

When i installed mysql plugin none of the gui stuff worked right at all.
And it wasn't a permission issue. I had to edit the settings manually. Logged in root sn: root psw: empty. Then change the pass via command and add kodi info via command

  • All,

Just to update based on my experience. I'm just finishing a new OMV 2.0 build with BPorts, and installed mysql 1.0.16 and whilst mysql started OK after install I wasnt able to logon with any credentials. Tried to restart the password through the OMV GUI but this wasn't working either.

Eventually just tried 'root' as username and left the password empty and I was in. I can reset the password through the mysql admin console of mysql only. Havent used the database yet.
This is what I saw for the users - is it normal?

Also i noticed in the config file that the server IP was set at 127.0.0.1, so I set to 0.0.0.0 with still no ability to change via GUI.
What could be the issue in regards to not being able to change password via OMV GUI?

The reset password feature in the latest plugin (2.1) works much better.

  • If the password reset button does not work you can always look at the file "debian.cnf"
You can copy the password of "debian-sys-maint" and login, then you can change the passwords of teh MySQL users.

    Code
    nano /etc/mysql/debian.cnf
