unable to install the latest version of OMV on microserver gen 8

  • Hi All,

I seems to be stuck at NIC driver when trying to install latest OMV.
I've tried amd64 and i386 and both stuck at the same point.
Any ideas? do i need to get driver from hp website? if yes, which o/s?
also, if my memory serves me right, amd64 is the 64 bit version correct? Thanks

Try this image instead. It uses and installs the 3.16 kernel. So, it should find your NIC.

    plugins :: omvextrasorg 7.0 | kvm 7.0.13 | compose 7.1.4 | k8s 7.1.0-3 | cputemp 7.0.1 | mergerfs 7.0.4

Are you using a USB stick to install? Did you unplug your data drives?

    Hi Ryecoaaron,

Yes, I'm trying to install it and no i left my data drive plugged in.
However, it did detect both storage and prompted me to select of where i want to install it on.
I selected the USB and seems to be running okay until I got that error with the grub installation

should i be unplugging all other HDDs?

Yep. Just the OS drive should be plugged in until after installation.

Mine is newer and uses the 3.16 kernel which should find more NICs. If your NICs are turned off like in Thomas' post, then you may not need my ISO. If they are turned on and not discovered with the official 1.9 ISO, I recommend using mine.

  • Hi Rye,

Hopefully this will be the last time for a long time :)
basically, I've got a RAID 1 on the old OMV 0.5
I've moved the HDDs across to the new OMV, it detected it but it doesn't mount it automatically.

I'm just wondering the best way to mount this?

here's the detail of the array
    Version : 1.2

should I be updating fstab? and copy the detail across from the old OMV?

    Thanks

It won't mount automatically. Go into Filesystems tab and mount it. That will add it to fstab.

  • It's not detected there. So I can't mount it
The only thing I could do is create. Which gives me the option to select the raid array but obviously thats not what I wanna do as it will format it

It is showing as read only. I would try rebooting again. Then post the output of: blkid and cat /proc/mdstat

  • still no go :(

after the reboot, here's screenshots of file system and raid

please ignore the missing one on capture1.jpg as that was initially the hdd that I had earlier. Ive taken it out just to avoid confusion.

    Also tried mounting it
mount /dev/md127 and was getting this message (not sure if i use the correct syntax)

    mount /dev/md127
    mount: can't find /dev/md127 in /etc/fstab or /etc/mtab
