Hi all,
Can you tell me what permissions/group does the user 'admin' have/belong to? I have tried logging in to the CLI as admin but it logs out immediately.
Permissions for user 'admin'
-
- OMV 1.0
- chanders

You need to login as root. admin is for the web interface only.

Thanks for the reply. When a command is executed (lets say rsync for example) via the web interface, which local user is executing it? Admin or root?
-
Depends on the command. Rsync is root. You select the user for cron. Most of the system settings are root. Why? What are you looking to do?
-
I have noticed I cannot connect with rsync from the web interface but I can via CLI with a different user account
-
rsyncd? Each module can be authenticated and has its own list of users. I use it all the time without issue. How do you have it setup?
-
See attached.. From CLI I login as user 'chanders' which is the same username as on the remote machine and it works that way..
-
Since you specify the username in the source server string, it should be trying to connect to the remote server using the chanders user not root. I'm guessing it is having an issue because of the space in the directory name. While Linux can use names with spaces, it is always better not to use a space in my opinion.
