How to upgrade the OMV Linux Kernel without network

  • Hi,

I'm trying to install OMV on an Intel NUC DC3217BY which require to plug the Apple network adapter on its thunderbolt port to get a network interface. The Apple network adapter is well supported under Linux, but require a Kernel more recent than the kernel delivered with OMV 1.9. I don't know exactly which Linux Kernel is ok (may be 3.17) but this adapter works under Ubuntu 14.04.
Thus I can install OMV but the thunderbolt network adapter is not recognized.

Is there a procedure to build an ISO image of OMV on a USB stick with all the necessary to upgrade the kernel?

    Thanks.

I've done it some time ago with a backport kernel 3.16. Basically you decompress the squashfs inside the iso, chroot into it and install the kernel there.

Pack the squashfs again, change the md5sum for squashfs, and build the iso with the new squashfs.

I can give you a link with the iso with kernel 3.16. Just send me a pm

The hw doesn't get recognized at install, just at kernel boot.
