Old HD as new ... Migrating Hds

  • I recently migrated my Data from a Zyxel NAS to a System with OMV. The Raid1 Arrays are duplicated and backed up.

    My Problem: In the Zyxel NAS are the much newer HDDs (3-4 Weeks new). How do I have to smuggle the the newer HDs from the old Zyxel over to the OMV-RAID?

    My Plan:

    1. Tear appart the old Raid
    2. Renew the HDs
    3. Exchange the HDs in the OMV-RAID with renewed HDs, one after the other

    Will this working? How do I have to "renew" the "new old" HDs?

    Greetings from Berlin
    Micha

    What do you mean by "renew"?

    omv 7.0.5-1 sandworm | 64 bit | 6.8 proxmox kernel

    plugins :: omvextrasorg 7.0 | kvm 7.0.13 | compose 7.1.4 | k8s 7.1.0-3 | cputemp 7.0.1 | mergerfs 7.0.4

  • I think i want erase them secure and deleting the partitions ... new enough? ;)

    The point is:I'm wondering what I have to do, that the Array (than degraded) akzept the "renewed" ;) HD as a new Twin.

    Bye, Micha

    Just put the drives in the OMV system and wipe each one in the Physical Disks tab. Then you should be able to create a new raid array on them.
