    Hello,
I saw your thread and it seems like ldap plugin works fine in your part.. Do you mind sharing the steps on configuring it? Hehe. Sorry i'm just a newbie in this stuff. Thank you in advance :)

Hi, i installed the ldap plugin, entered the information from my ldap server and thats it.

At which Point do you hang? Error Messages?

    • kyou -

After entering the information in the ldap plugin, the users and groups doesn't show up. Then I tried this guide wiki.debian.org/LDAP/NSS and edit the uid/gid number at /etc/login.defs.. Both users and groups shows up when I type the command getent password but only groups in WebGUI hehe. At User tab, it says "Communication Failure" :(

Sounds that your bind user is invalid... make sure that you enter it like cn=admin,dc=domain,dc=tld or whatever your LDAP Basepath is. Has this user the right permissions in your ldap directory?
and dont forget smbpasswd -W to set the password from your LDAP BIND Account for samba too

Yes, the user is an admin.. but i haven't done the smbpasswd -W part.. will try and check it. Thank you very much :)

      Hello again,

I have tried what you did (install ldap-plugin, fill-up informations, then smbpasswd -W)
      #-----------------
Setting stored password for "uid=omv,cn=users,cn=accounts,dc=ipa,dc=xxx,dc=xxx,dc=xxx" in secrets.tdb
      New SMB password:
      Retype new SMB password:
      #-----------------
But still, the users and groups doesn't show up in WebGUI.. I think I missed something here.. Hehe. Did you follow this tut? help.ubuntu.com/lts/serverguide/samba-ldap.html
