Network Monitoring with OpenMediaVault?

  • Hi Folks,

since my OMV machine is now running 24/7 most of the time I would like to ask you if someone can recommend me a good network montoring tool that works with OMV?
Does anyone have experience in Network Monitoring in combination with OMV? Is there maybe already a Plugin for it out there?

While I was looking around I found the free Monitoring Tool Observium: http://www.observium.org/
I looks quite nice, but I't seems that it only works with Apache and I don't know if this will cause issues with the OMV Web GUI? :|

  • This interest me too because I have different clients using my server and I would like to know at the end of the week, wich one is taking more bandwith and have some stats about the network flows....

  • So, I tried to install Observium on Monday evening and everything seemed to work fine after I changed the Port binding for the Apache Server from Port 80 to something different.
The only issue I encountered first was that I couldn't use the omv sql plugin anymore. But that's not a big deal, as you can do most of the sql stuff also via the terminal.

But now my OMV Server is rebooting every X minutes or hours and I realy don't know what is causing this :(
Did anyone know if there is any logfile in Linux that show me the reason for a shutdown?

    thx in advance :)

  • I one up this, I have been looking into this recently, I'm thinking about trying to load something like Nagios or zabbix in a virtual box, but I did see that there are some docker container with both zabbix and Nagios. Unfortunately I have to go away for a few weeks for work, and wont get to work on this for a bit. Hopefully someone will have a little experience with this and chime in.
