• Okay, so here's where I'm at with this. I finally figured out how to access my files while I'm away from home, but even while testing FTP at home, I have never been able to open or write new files to my shares. Am I doing something wrong? I've even gone through and set EVERYONE access to Read/Write, and nothing. What am I doing wrong. I'm doing this all through the webGUI, so if this is something I have to set up in a command line, I'll need a walk-through. Thanks

  • Ok, say you create a folder on a data disk:

    /media/uuid/ftp

then share that folder using shared folders so you can add it in the ftp config.

Now each user will have it's own subdirectory under /media/uuid/ftp/

so in that location say make folder user1, user2, user3

    then you have

    /media/uuid/ftp/user1
    /media/uuid/ftp/user2
    /media uuid/ftp/user3

so when you make users for ftp (e.g. user1, user2., user3) you add a home directory.
after you have added a user make sure that user is highlighted and click on settings tab. click on enable and put in path for user1
    which will be /media/uuid/ftp/user1

the users cannot share directories and will be chrooted to their home ftp directory.
