Proxmox/OMV Raid choice

    Hi,


    I need to build a Raid5 to be used with OMV.


    What is the best option to choose if OMV is a KVM in Proxmox ?

    • Pass 4 disks to OMV with VirtIO and build RAID5 into OMV with mdadm
    • Build RAID5 into Proxmox host with mdadm and pass disk to OMV.

    Is there any option more performant than another ?

    I would build the raid5 array in proxmox and pass to OMV. You don't want the mdadm calculations being performed in the guest. Proxmox has a zfs plugin now that is another option. Whatever option you choose, I would do it at the proxmox level.
