Question to advanced Users --- what will happen to a RAID 5, when I have to install new

    I'm using OMV 2.0 and have 6 HD combined to a RAID 5 - HD.


    If I have to reinstall my System-HD, what will happen to my RAID?
    Is it broken, or will a newly installed Debian/OMV will "find" the RAID and exept it?
    Does anyone have experience with it?


    As my System-HD has space enough, I'm thinking aobout to install DEBIAN and then OMV again.


    Hoping for answers.

    Unplug all the data drives before you reinstall. Just leave the system drive plugged in. After reinstall shutdown and the plug that data drives back in and boot up. You should then be able to remount the raid.

    I think I will wait for this step until OMV 3.0 ist out and than
    I'll do the trick ;-).

    Hello again,
    after waiting long (no acsusation to Volker) I decided not to wait for version 3.0.
    I now have a running Debian 8 and the RAID is runnig too.
    The Problem ist the installation ov OpenMediaVault 2.


    I updated the files:
    /etc/apt/sources.list
    /etc/apt/sources.list.d/openmediavault.list
    then I started:
    apt-get update
    wget -O - http://packages.openmediavault.org/public/archive.key | apt-key add -
    apt-get install openmediavault
    and got this:


    openmediavault : Hängt ab von: php5-pam soll aber nicht installiert werden
    Hängt ab von: proftpd-mod-vroot soll aber nicht installiert werden
    Hängt ab von: php5-proctitle soll aber nicht installiert werden
    E: Probleme können nicht korrigiert werden, Sie haben zurückgehaltene defekte Pakete.
    ( in English)
    openmediavault : depends on: php5-pam shouldn't be installed
    depends on: proftpd-mod-vroot shouldn't be installed
    depends on: php5-proctitle shouldn't be installed
    E: problems can not be corrected(solved), you have packages which are refrained and fault


    I hadn't done something with the packages mentioned by the system.
    So what can I do?


    Is there anyone who has an answer?

    OMV 2.x does not work on Jessie. Jessie uses systemd and new versions of components.


    Why do you need Jessie?
