openmediavault-hostapd

It shows up for me. You probably need to clear your browser cache and try apt clean in omv-extras. A couple of other comments:

No need to use override files. Works fine without them.

Don't use sed to create the config file. Create the entire file from the mkconf file. You don't need to write the many, many commented lines in the config file but you could just cut&paste the template file in between a cat and EOF.

Other than that, it looks fine.

Does it works on OMV 3.X ?

Looked at the source code and no, it will not work on OMV 3.x.

I'll try to setup the hostapd outside the OMV then ...

Looking at it, I could probably port it to OMV 3 fairly quickly. You would have to do the testing though.

Can this plugin still be ported? I would to like to use the plugin if possible.

I didn't remember porting this plugin to OMV 3.x :D No one ever tested it as far as I know. I don't see anything in the plugin that would keep it from working OMV 4.x IF it works on OMV 3.x. Here is the package - http://omv-extras.org/testing/openmediavault-hostapd_3.0_all.deb

thanks! I will check it out and let you know.

  • The plugin seems to install fine, but it doesn't work OOTB. I have been fiddling with the config file and network interfaces, but I can't get it to work yet. I need to create a bridge between my wlan0 and eth0, but this is not supported by the plugin.

To be short. Just activating the plugin with the right parameters doesn't give me an AP I can connect to.

but this is not supported by the plugin.

And I don't think it should. That is a system wide network setting (that happens to not even be supported by OMV).

  • I am really interested in setting up my OMV-Nas as a access point without internetconnection. Does hostapd work? I would love to test this, but since I am a real Debian noob I would need proper assistance. I am using the Asrock H2780m ITX/AC board.

    Does hostapd work?

The package or the plugin? I'm sure the package does since it is in the debian repos but I don't know if the plugin works or not. If you want to test the plugin, download it from the link above and upload it in the plugin tab in the web interface.
