Do not open any OMV Ports to the Internet and secure it via Firewall for all incoming connections to WebIF and SSH except your PC.
So basically what you say is to block omv in the intranet only forward ssh, and use sah tcp tunneling, connect to that tunnel through socks and after that use the intranet ip to go to omv?
Only open SSH as well es WebIF Port to your PC (via IP). Then everyone can still use services like SMB and AFP but they cannot connect to any other things.
Thank you, but though it would be nice to have 2 factor authentication. I guess this is a question addressed more to the developers if they plan to develop this option in the core. As far as I can see neither ownCloud has support for this

ssh is not considered a plugin, is a core service, most plugins are just that services so we could call ssh a plugin. As a policy in general plugins don't configure other plugins. The 2FA requires some change in environmental variables of the ssh service, also add some extra options.
This is a like 4 step configuration and very well documented that takes 5 minutes for a user to implement.
AFIK there no developers that have shown interest in this.
maybe i wasn't made clear: i wasn't talking about configurating 2FA for ssh but for the web interface.
Ok. That's a core modification you'll need to suggest that at bug tracker. Not sure if that can be implemented by plugin model.
Contributing a fully working implementation is much better than simply fill an feature request that is never done. If the community want to have more features, then he has to contribute.
You can use 2 factor authentication with the OpenVPN AS plugin. It works with Google Authenticator.
I can't seem to find openvpn on omv extras 3.0
What cpu??? The OpenVPN AS plugin is only available for x86 and x86_64 cpus.
Intel pentium, im using a microserver gen8
You should see the openmediavault-openvpnas plugin then. It is in a weird repo becuase OMV 3.x is beta. Hold on.... Aaron has not setup a VPN repo yet for OMV 3.x.
The plugin is in the plex repo. So is the openvpn-as package.
Enable the plex repo in OMV Extras.
By the way i've installed the special OMV extras for 3.0
Here is an old post on OpenVPN AS and Google Authentication. Maybe you'll find something useful in it.
Openvpnas dual factor authentication
The openvpn as packages will be available when you enable the plex repo.
I know it is there because I recently upgraded the plugin for OMV 3.x.
Thanks, i thought plex package only for plex software
Well, to get things done we do things abnormally in beta work..
anyway you guys do an awesome work
