OMV 3.0 and Kodi (OSMC) on two RasPis (2+3) or one?

  • Hi there,
I habe been tinkering a bit around with OMV and dont really know what configuration would be the most stable/fast/ideal. I am currently the RasPi2i with OSMC as mediaplayer, USB network storage and BT Client (Deluge) with VPN. OMV would be a great addition, but I dont really know in which constellation. I see two general options:

    1. One Raspi with OMV and one with OSMC
Do i assume correctly that OMV would not really benefit from the RP3 new features?

    2. Both on RP3. Would be a clearer and energy saving solution having all on one device. But I cant predict if the hardware could handle peaky situations (watching HD Vid, torrent downloading, (planed) security cam recording...) and if there would be some expecting software issues.
If both could fit on one RP, should OMV run on the shared SD card or on an additional USB stick?

Any thoughts what approach fits better?
    cheers and thanks
    quan

    1. OMV would benefit from increased speed of RPi3. OSMC may benefit more though.

    2. I wouldn't do this. Running is two RPis instead of one saves you about 2 watts maybe. Not much of an energy savings. OMV 2.x needs Debian Wheezy as well.
