Kodi, aufs and nfs share

  • afternoon all.

    Newb alert i'm afraid :D

I have been trying to get an NFS share going with my RiP this afternoon. I have 4 drives pooled using snapraid and aufs (mfs), I have been surfing the forum for clues and i came across this

I had this note in the old aufs plugin:

If you use the aufs pool for NFS, you must use the fsid option in Extra Options for the NFS share.

sounds like a possible answer...only problem is it doesn't really mean much to me :D

what do i need to put in the extra options box?

mine currently looks like this "subtree_check,insecure,all_squash,anonuid=0,anongid=0"

I can find the folder in kodi (browse through IP/export/Movies) but thats about as far as it gets before i get a "couldn't retreive directory information" msg

    Thanks All 8)

    complete Newb...enough said really :D

I would switch to mergerfs but if you really want to keep using aufs, read this thread about fsid. Basically, add fsid=1 to the options of your nfs share.

  • I have already moved some files into the pool, can i move to mergerfs without moving it back off? not a great deal of data on there so not really to big an issue if i have to move it tbh.

whats the benefit of mergerfs over aufs?

I'll look into that thread in a bit, cheers for the quick response though

aufs and mergerfs both work on top of filesystems. So, you can switch back and forth with no issues.

mergerfs is still developed and has a lot less issues. aufs is a kernel module vs fuse for mergerfs. So, aufs typically has better performance. mergerfs is still fast enough for most purposes.

Try mergerfs. If you don't like it, switch back to aufs.
