PXE Plugin

Wow, that's too much work compare to Linux Mint or Ubuntu iso.
I guess I stick to Linux distro.

    I agree :)

  • It's Windows, not Linux :D
To create good WinPE you should use some tools. Even Microsoft guys use those to create customized images.
Using console to build PE is like writing new Linux starting from the beginning.

    My rescuePE contains:
    Full desktop
    LAN drivers
A lot of portableapps (pass recovery, AIDA, hardware testing tools, BCD tools etc etc)

It took me 15 min to customize it and build (+5 min)

And last thing - even if I agree that Linux is much better then Windows (I'm former Win user) there are things you must use Windows for, Linux can't do :)
So if you really need some Windows read a bit about PE builders and use one to build fully operating OS

What directory? The plugin only uses the shared folder you select. If you download a pre-built package from the packages tab, it puts them in /tmp which is tmpfs not on your system drive.

    Here is screenshot for PXE
I didn't install any other packages.

Content of PXE is same as in my PXE folder in plugin.

Also same thing with docker (i had docker installed few months ago - long time ago purged)

Content of docker are my VMs... (from VBOX plugin VM directoy)

Uh, you are exporting the pxe shared folder via nfs. /export/nfs is just a bind mount. So, it isn't using space on the OS drive.

Not sure about how to change it on docker but docker by default puts dockers in /var/lib/docker. So, that can easily fill the OS drive. I thought there was a way to specify where the dockers go in the plugin?

  • But I don't have docker like 3 months or so, so how it still create something?
I've purged it, deleted all files etc...

And something is taking this place because yesterday root had 4GB free, today I extended root to 12GB coz of lack of space...

You mentioned docker so I assumed you were still using it. It is probably logging that is filling the drive then. What is the output of:

    du -d1 -h /

It isn't your browser messing with you. It is the anti-spam filter. I haven't seen what it shows so I can't help but try to just post once.

It is definitely your docker directory that filled it. 51 GB. Uninstall docker and rm /var/lib/docker if you don't use docker.

  • I've purged docker 3 or more months ago.
This directory also was deleted. But what is funny for me: /var/libs/openmediavault/docker have same files as in /media/UUID/VMS and those files are dedicated to VB plugin, not docker :O

If I delete /var/lib..... my VMS will stop work :D (tested last time)

Not sure what to tell you. Removing the docker plugin doesn't remove /var/lib/docker. If you install docker and then installed the plugin, removing the plugin won't remove docker.

    What is the output of:

    ls -al /var/lib/
    ls -al /var/lib/docker/

If /var/lib/openmediavault/docker has VMs in it, then it must be something you changed. The virtualbox plugin can't put the files in that directory. You can manually override where the files go when you create a VM though.

  • Hey,

I've manually deleted /var/lib/docker* and result made me f**king angry.

First of all directory /var/lib/docker/openmediavault can not be deleted because of bussy (I've checked few times and no docker or openmediavault-docker is installed)
rest of folders in directory was deleted recursively.
Then I went to /media/UUID/VMS and folder with my all VMs is empty! Deleting /var/lib/docker deleted my all VMs (also my mail server!)

    @@EDIT
I didn't change anything in default docker configuration, there was no links or anything.
Now I'm going to restore my VMs :(

You should look in plugin (docker) config, I found entry in /etc/fstab pointing to my VMs

But the virtualbox plugin uses shared folders. The VMs should be in the shared folder you select in the settings tab. If you switched to expert mode in phpvirtualbox, I guess you could put them in a different directory.

Just to make this clear, were you VMs in docker or virtualbox?
