PXE Plugin

  • I always use VB plugin in OMV and never changed any default settings. VMS were stored in shared folder pointed in plugin.

    Debian 8.6 Jessie + OMV 3.0.latest Kernel: Linux 4.8.0-0.bpo.2-amd64
Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E8400@3GHz
    Memory: 4GB RAM
    OS-HDD: Samsung SSD 120 GB +LVM

Full media and download center configured.

BIG and special thanks for OMV-Extras team for great plug-ins (especially: TeamSpeak, VirtualBox, Sonarr, Radarr, and rest I use :))

So, I guess I don't understand how your VMs were in /var/lib/docker/openmediavault since it is in impossible to create a shared folder pointing to that folder?

  • Please look in fstab, here is mine

As you can see there are 2 mounts in OMV section.
I think there should be some update of settings when deleting or turning off services, they shouldn't be mounted always.
Second one (I didn't checked it before) was pointing to my VMS folder (don't know why and how, I left field empty in Docker plugin)

Shared folder named DOCKER was deleted, but it still try to mount it.

I was trying to remove entries manually but after reboot they are back :/

Ah. Docker bind mounted the directory to the shared folder. That is why it deleted the files. You store your virtualbox VMs in a your DOCKER shared folder?

Does omv-mkconf fstab change your /etc/fstab?

  • This entry where I deleted my VMs was some mistake/bug of Docker testing version (or mby my fu**up), no matter about this, I've already restored them.

More important for me and most users is the FSTAB.
After omv-mkconf fstab no changes were applied. It look the same.

I will have to look at the docker plugin code to see why it didn't remove the bind mount. I don't really consider this a bug because you could do the same thing if you were actively using the docker plugin since it needs the bind mount. All I can think is this is a reason to not use the same location for two plugins.

  • For sure :) never use one location for 2 plugins!
Could you also look in NFS plugin? It doesn't unmount resources as well

Volker owns that since it is core OMV.

Looks like that is fixed in 3.0.66 (not released yet).

  • Hello,

I'm installed the PXE 3.12 plugin on OVM 5.1.0-1, but when I try to run it, the following error appears:

    Code
Failed to execute command 'export PATH=/bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/local/sbin; export LANG=C.UTF-8; omv-salt deploy run pxe 2>&1' with exit code '100': ERROR: The state 'pxe' does not exist

    How to fix it?

I'm installed the PXE 3.12 plugin on OVM 5.1.0-1

Why would you do that? There is a reason the plugin isn't in the OMV 5.x repo. It hasn't been ported to OMV 5.x and won't be ported - https://forum.openmediavault.o…?postID=186122#post186122

    How to fix it?

Uninstall the package and use docker.

Use Docker for PXE? How? In need a hint what to look for.

Search for PXE on docker hub. I haven't used any images because I don't need PXE.
