Media (Music) Server with Web GUI / Web Player

Hi guys!

I am looking for some kind of media server which provides a web GUI that allows me to stream music from my NAS over the internet. I'd like to be able to stream all my music on another computer / smartphone without having to use some special client, but directly in the browser.

I did a little bit of research and found out that this should be possible with Plex. However, Plex requires you to use a myPlex account. I want to avoid that. The media server does not need to be very advanced: A simple GUI, allowing me to browse and play my mp3s, would be enough. Looking at pictures and streaming videos would be nice, but this is optional.

Can anyone recommend me some piece of software?

I have been keeping an eye on CherryMusic which, I think, would be a good candidate.
Haven't got around experimenting with it yet, though. I am currently using Subsonic on OMV 2.0.

Have you looked at Subsonic ?

Plex requires an account, but it's free. The PlexPass isn't very useful.

Thank you for your fast replies! Subsonic and CherryMusic look quite promising. I will have a look at them on the weekend. Of course I will start with Subsonic, since there is a OMV plugin available.

//EDIT: Ampache is probably also an alternative...
