Update & clean the packages, but it's still there in the pending updates in the Update Management.

    Yes, I did 4 times.

Once is enough :) What is the output of: apt-get dist-upgrade

i don't know enough to know if i am having the same problem but apt-get update

This is a dns/network/internet connection issue.

Update via GUI worked like a charme here, just minutes ago...

    Mine too on five systems.

Just pressed refresh again and now I have over 15 firmware updates. No clue if its good or bad but I'm a bit surprised.

This is ok. Your system had the regular firmware packages installed. Now, it wants to install the backports (newer) packages. I use the backports packages on all of my systems.

I was already using the 4.8 Backport Kernel or is that a different thing?

Kind of the same thing. They are all packages in the backports repo.

  • Thanks.
    It worked.
But why do I need to run this distro-upgrade to get it fixed though?

why do I need to run this distro-upgrade to get it fixed though?

I just tried a fresh VM again. The reason it has problems is because there is an update for the firmware-adi and firmware-ralink packages. If you select all the packages, you are telling the system to upgrade those two packages even though they need to be removed. If you deselect just those two packages, the upgrade works fine from the web interface. I don't think I have ever seen this issue before.

  • apt-get dist-upgrade gave me

    Code
    apt-get dist-upgrade
    Reading package lists... Done
    Building dependency tree
    Reading state information... Done
You might want to run 'apt-get -f install' to correct these.
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
linux-image-extra-4.4.0-57-generic : Depends: linux-image-4.4.0-57-generic but it is not installed
linux-image-generic : Depends: linux-image-4.4.0-57-generic but it is not installed
E: Unmet dependencies. Try using -f.

So I did what it said
    apt-get -f install

    then it suggested
    apt autoremove
so I did that via ssh

  • What exactly is mine doing (it is wanting to update my .ssh/id_rsa key). When you tell it "no" it sits there, when you tell it "yes" it sits there.

    Code
    Setting up openmediavault (3.0.59) ...
    Generating public/private rsa key pair.
    /root/.ssh/id_rsa already exists.
    Overwrite (y/n)?
  • And, all it does it sit there. never completes.

someone marked this thread solved so you should probably start your own thread. That is what I did but my problem seems different than yours
