Will there be a Raspberry Pi 2 version of 3.0 that I can upgrade my 2.x Openmediavault to when released?
OMV is platform independent for the most part. The same 3.x package will run on the RPi2, RPi3, x86, amd64, etc. OMV 3.x is ready now.
That said, I don't recommend upgrading the RPi. I would install fresh using the latest image on sourceforge.

Ok then if I upgrade by making a new install how do I backup all my OVM settings then?The discs are just a standard LVM so I'm sure I wouldn't lose anything as long as installed the LVM plugin and setup my shares again although if I could backup and restore the settings then that would be easier tbh

LVM on an RPi? Seems like a bit much.

I had a few USB HDD's lying around so plugged them all into a hub and used them as a NAS...
Works ok - Bit slow on copying big files but I think that is a limitation on the Pi's networking rather than LVM/OVM. Running the nginx plugin for a test wordpress setup is a bit slow though but otherwise works fine.
