You would need to build from source. Even OMV 3.x/Debian 8 Jessie is still using 2.84. Debian 9 Stretch has 2.92 but OMV does not work on Stretch. I'm guessing you couldn't build transmission 2.92 on OMV 2.x/Debian 7 Wheezy because the supporting libraries are too old. I would look into moving to OMV 3.x and use the docker plugin to get the most recent transmission.

transmission-cli 2.92-1
transmission-common 2.92-1
transmission-daemon 2.92-1It works fine for half a year without problems.
But do not do these if you use omv2!!! -
