[RESOLVED] Mounting existing raid5 on new omv installation

  • Hi there!

First of all: I don't know if this is the right place for this thread, so please correct me.

Because it seems that I have a problem with my apache2-config (see here: http://forums.openmediavault.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1789) and wasted the whole day to figure out that I don't have a clue what is going (wr)on(g) on my OMV, I decided to reinstall OMV. Now I'm afraid of loosing my data on the software raid5.

    My hardware is a N40 with a 4x3TB HDD-bay and a 64GB SSD for the System.

Is it safe to unplug the raid volumes, install OMV again, replug the raid volumes and everythings fine? Will the new OMV installation recognize the 'old software raid5' automatically an be able to mount it?

    Thanks in advance,
    capa

  • Everything as you wrote. But after you see the raid and the filesystem you need to recreate the shares and exports again, which is purely configurational stuff that is not on the raid,

Everything is possible, sometimes it requires Google to find out how.
