Unable to update

  • Hi guys

I posted this issue a while back but couldn't get a solution so I thought I'd try again

I have not been offered updates for at least 2 months now
running apt-get update failes every time with the following message at the end

    Code
Traceback (most recent call last): File "/usr/sbin/omv-mkaptidx", line 68, in <module> cache = apt.cache.Cache() File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/apt/cache.py", line 102, in __init__ self.open(progress) File "/usr/lib/python3/dist-packages/apt/cache.py", line 145, in open self._cache = apt_pkg.Cache(progress)SystemError: E:The value 'stable' is invalid for APT::Default-Release as such a release is not available in the sourcesReading package lists... Doneroot@Home-NAS:~#

Any help or advice would be much appreciated

    Graeme

  • Sorry, can't really help you. Did you try clean your apt?

    Code
    apt-get autoclean

    or

    Code
    apt-get clean

There should also be a button in the omv webui, if I remember right.

  • Hi hoppell

Thanks for your help, I tried the commands you suggested

There seems to be an issue but I don't understand what it is
can anyone figure it out ?

    Code
root@Home-NAS:~# apt-get cleanroot@Home-NAS:~# apt-get autocleanReading package lists... DoneE: The value 'stable' is invalid for APT::Default-Release as such a release is not available in the sourcesroot@Home-NAS:~#
  • Hello Emegra,

I made a liitle search and found this: OMV 1.18 CRON-APT Error: The value 'stable' is invalid for APT::Default-Release as such a release is not available in the sources

Which omv release do you use? The header of this thread says "OMV 0.2". =O

    • 2.x is stable
    • 3.x is beta (but also known as stable)

But maybe you find the solution in that thread.
