Actually I use this:
Externe usb->PC.....NAS
And I would like this:
Externe usb->NAS
Thanks.
How to copy extern usb to nas?
-
- OMV 2.x
- jumpman

Connect the USB drive to the NAS, mount it, and use rsync to copy.

You can either SSH into your NAS and use the rsync command, or (more easy) use the rsync command in the GUI of OMV. You find it in the services section. Here you can create a job and run it just once or on a regular basis.

Use the USB backup plugin.

And I would like this:
Externe usb->NASThere are several possibilities to copy data from an USB disk to the NAS, as all of you have written. But nevertheless there is a difference between direct copying (External USB -> NAS) and copying via CIFS (External USB -> PC -> NAS). If I go the latter way the files will get the right file permissions and group/owner which are determined in the Samba share settings.
Personally I was using SSH and a screen session to copy the files from my extermal NTFS-USB-disk to the OMV NAS. After completion all files had root:root and 0777. In a second step I had to modify group and owner and file permissions as if I had copy them over the CIFS share.
Later I gave my account SSH rights. So the copied files got the correct user and group from the beginning. But the file permissions I had to modify in a second step nevertheless.Or is there any other way how to handle it?
