a better filesystem?

    couldn't you just use btrfs-convert

If you did that to a data drive that was already in config.xml, it would write the wrong info to fstab.

  • guess the tool is not compatible with OMV :)
I know I tested the conversion and it works great.
the whole drive is converted online, on a live system. even if it is an OS drive. whole thing just keeps running and be usable throughout the process.
but it was not OMV, just plain Linux distro, Mint if memory serves me right.

Assuming it keeps the same UUID, it is compatible for the most part but something would need to change ext4 to btrfs in config.xml

  • frankly I am not sure what it changes in terms of UUID or anything else.
when I was testing this, a few years back, I used a simple VM with Linux Mint on it.
and just run the conversion on system disk ,as the WiKi said I can do it :)

it worked but if it changed UUID or not I am not sure.

  • Just had my first btrfs crash today. The storage drive suddenly went into read-only mode and cant mount it.

    Code
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sda3, missing codepage or helper program, or other error In some cases useful info is found in syslog - try dmesg | tail or so.

Good thing i have a backup. Redoing all over again.
    This is fun :D

    UPDATE:
It was the cable lol. sorry guys :)
