VirtualBox Plugin not work

  • Hi what could be the reason I can't install VirtualBox from Plugins.
I always get the same error, see pictures

Did you search the forum? This is a well known fact that virtualbox doesn't work with the 4.15 kernel. I have a solution but need to figure out backwards compatibility.

    omv 7.0.4-2 sandworm | 64 bit | 6.5 proxmox kernel

    plugins :: omvextrasorg 7.0 | kvm 7.0.10 | compose 7.1.2 | k8s 7.0-6 | cputemp 7.0 | mergerfs 7.0.3

Please try ctrl-shift-R and read this before posting a question.

Please put your OMV system details in your signature.
Please don't PM for support... Too many PMs!

  • Thanks, but I switched backt to 4.14 and it again does not work.
VirtualBox is essential since I'm hosting all my webservers in a dedicated VM to keep by OMV untouched.
I switched to 4.14 in the boot menu and then again re-installed Virtualbox.
    Without results.

  • Today, i received for my OMV on Debian 9.4 an update for the virtualbox package, now the modules do compile and after a restart of the server virtualbox is working as expected.

    Code
    root@nas:~# dpkg -l | grep virtualbox
ii openmediavault-virtualbox 4.0 all VirtualBox plugin for OpenMediaVault.

  • FYI:
After enabling the "OMV Extras Testing Repo" I found version 4.1 of Virtualbox.
Luckily I was able to start it on 4.15, but I couldn't fire up the VMs.

Therefore I disabled the Testing Repo and uninstalled it again.
Hopefully a solution can be constructed.
