ATTO RAID Card

According to the manufacturer web site, Linux is supported. You might need to install the backports 3.2 kernel.

    Code
    echo "deb http://backports.debian.org/debian-backports squeeze-backports main non-free" >> /etc/apt/sources.list
    apt-get update
    apt-cache search linux-image-3
    apt-get -t squeeze-backports install linux-image-3.2.0-0.bpo.4-amd64 firmware-linux-free

    omv 7.0.5-1 sandworm | 64 bit | 6.8 proxmox kernel

    plugins :: omvextrasorg 7.0 | kvm 7.0.13 | compose 7.1.4 | k8s 7.1.0-3 | cputemp 7.0.1 | mergerfs 7.0.4

omv-extras.org plugins source code and issue tracker - github - changelogs

  • The installation was successful from backports 3.2 kernel, but when install ATTO Card we have this message...

    - Unable to find the Kernel header directory
    - The kernel headers were expected in
    - /lib/modules/3.2.0-0.bpo.4-amd64/build
    - You should be able to correct this problem by running the following command:
    - # yum install kernel-devel-3.2.0-0.bpo.4-amd64
    - Press any key to finish

Why we have this message, we are with correct module?

    Best regards.

  • Code
    apt-get -t squeeze-backports install kernel-devel-3.2.0-0.bpo.4-amd64

If that package is not available search for the headers package:

    Code
    apt-cache -t squeeze-backports search linux-headers

and chose the correct one and install it with

    Code
    apt-get -t squeeze-backports install linux-headers-FILLINCORRECTHEADER

    Greetings

Looks like a redhat/fedora module was installed since it mentions yum...

    It is working!

    But I have another question...

I'm thinking build my server NAS with 8 ou 16 drives x 1TB or 2TB! Which card should I use? LSI x ARECA x HPT x ATTO???
What is the best card low profile and low cost?
Do you have guide compatibity from RAID or HOST card? other question... I should use RAID or HOST Card?

    Best Regards!

I wouldn't directly recommend it, but iam using a 3ware (LSI) RAID Card since 3 years now. 9650SE-8LPML till mid this year, worked like a charm and is now serving in a NAS from a friend. Now my hard disks get driven by the 9650SE-16ML and i have no problems with it alltough installing 3dm2 (for the webinterface) can be a pain in the ass (have to look it up every time...), but this controller works out-of-the-box under OMV!
