Can't login to AFP shares

  • I'd love some help debugging this issue.
When I login on my MacBook, I get this error:

There was a problem connecting to the server “microserver”.
There are no shares available or you are not allowed to access them on the server. Please contact your system administrator to resolve the problem.

Latest OMV 4.1.9 with AFP is enabled. The server identifies itself on the network and appears in the MacOS Finder under "Shared".

Under Users -> click user -> Permissions the user has read/write permissions set for the shared folder.
Under Users -> Settings the "User home directory" setting is disabled.

    AFP settings are:

    General settings
    Enable: True

    Home directories
    Enable: False

    Advanced settings
    Allow plain passwords: False
    Extra options: ""

So no extra options in advanced settings.

Under shares I've added the shared test folder with default options.

I've tried "Reset Permissions" on the shared folder with the resetperms 3.3 plugin, but that didn't help in this case.

This is related debug info I could find in the MacOS console.app for the moment I try to login to the share:

Would be great if someone could help me figure this out.
I already gave up trying to configure SMB.
Couldn't get that to work either, so I disabled SMB again.
AFP seems simpler... so wanted to try that but can't get it working.
