Installation on Debian Jessie failed: PHP5 unavailable?

  • Hi folks!
I am trying to install OMV on a WD MyCloud Gen 1. First I installed a clean Debian Jessie image and brought it up to date by executing apt-get dist-upgrade. Now I tried to follow these instructions for Jessie:
    https://openmediavault.readthe…stallation/on_debian.html

    However, this is what happens:

    root@MyCloud:~# apt-get --yes --force-yes --auto-remove --show-upgraded --no-install-recommends --option Dpkg::Options::="--force-confdef" --option DPkg::Options::="--force-confold" install postfix openmediavault

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
openmediavault : Depends: php5-fpm but it is not installable
Depends: php5-cgi but it is not installable
Depends: php5-cli (>= 5.6) but it is not installable
Depends: php5-pam but it is not going to be installed
Depends: openssh-blacklist-extra but it is not installable
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.
    root@MyCloud:~# apt-get install php-fpm php-cgi php-cli php-pam

    root@MyCloud:~# apt-get install php5-fpm

    Building dependency tree
    Reading state information... Done
Package php5-fpm is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source

E: Package 'php5-fpm' has no installation candidate
    root@MyCloud:~#

Do I need to add any other repositories to sources.list?

    Code: sources.list
deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian stable main contrib non-free

    deb http://ftp.debian.org/debian stable-updates main contrib non-free

    deb http://security.debian.org/ stable/updates main contrib non-free

    deb http://packages.openmediavault.org/public erasmus main
  • Why are you trying to install Jessie?

Basically because I did not find any images for Stretch... I now ran into another problem, when installing the Debian images, I can successfully connect to the box via SSH. I then just run

    apt-get update
    apt-get dist-upgrade

There are no errors, the upgrade runs very smoothly. However, when I reboot the WDMC, I cannot connect any more, I don't even see it on the network, it does not request an IP address from the DHCP server which means it basically is bricked. I have restored the images I created from an original WDMC connecting the hard drive directly to my PC which works fine. I could not figure out though what went wrong with the update... No error messages at all. Any ideas?

Couldn't find the images for Stretch? Did you download from the Debian website? They would be easier to find than the Jessie images.

If it were me, I would start over with a Stretch image, then follow the instructions on that site to install OMV 4.

    https://cdimage.debian.org/deb…amd64-netinst.iso.torrent

Install Stretch.. .when it asks what packages to install, don't install any of the desktops, etc.. (installing SSH would be helpful for the first boot)

Then follow the instructions to install OMV 4 on Stretch.

  • I'm not sure if you are aware of the fact that I am trying to install OMV on a WD MyCloud Gen1? If yes please let me know where to find instructions on how to set it up using the netinstaller you suggested. I am referring to the images for MyCloud provided by fox_exe, see this Thread:
