New installation no longer accessible from webgui

  • Hi
I did my first install yesterday and it was all working perfectly - added users, shares, services etc, so I turned off and went to bed.

Today nothing works. I've reinstalled twice and still I can't log into the webgui. I just get ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED on all browsers, private mode or not.

I can ping the machine at 192.168.0.10. I can log on to the machine itself and run all the things in firstaid. I've watched videos and searched threads and I'm about to give up, so any new ideas would be welcome.

My omv is built on an asrock ion330 with a 30G ssd. I unplugged the data disk on the last install to see if it was confusing it, but made no differnece.

    Thanks

I didn't mention when I go to 192.168.0.10 it says

    http://192.168.0.10:10000/contentshare/WebApp/index.html

is what is unavailable. Why the 10000?

  • Well it's happening again. The OMV has been working all day till I tried to set up autoshutdown. Didn't work but that's another question. Now when I reboot I can't log in at all. As before - any browser, cleared cache or not.

I've tried using ssh to search for clues in log files, but I can't find any obvious errors - don't really know which logs to look at.

Where can I start looking for clues? I'll turn off now and assume it will all work in the morning.

  • No it doesn't work any more. Webgui not available on any device.

    user.log says:
Mar 12 10:27:06 plaza blkmapd[302]: open pipe file /run/rpc_pipefs/nfs/blocklayout failed: No such file or directory

I'm looking for clues in var/log/syslog (no I just guessing this might help) - after a reboot I get the following. It says ....

Mar 12 10:56:30 plaza systemd[1]: Reached target Graphical Interface.
    Mar 12 10:56:30 plaza watchdog[1112]: error retry time-out = 60 seconds
Mar 12 10:56:30 plaza systemd[1]: Starting Update UTMP about System Runlevel Changes...
    Mar 12 10:56:30 plaza watchdog[1112]: repair attempts = 1

    So it thinks it's working?

    Anyone any ideas??

    Thanks

  • My own install suffers from the same "disease": everything was ok until a power failure; All of the sudden I got no access to webgui or ssh. The same has happened with shares. Only thing that's working is network connection (namely a bitorrent client).
    Tomorrow i'll start debuging.

  • Well here's a thing. I ran omv-firstaid over ssh to just to see and I notice the new IP of the OMV is 192.168.0.6, when it has always been 10 not 6.

So maybe yours has moved nunogand.

So now I can login to the webgui using 192.168.0.6.

I don't understand why my shared folders still work if the address has changed.

Also, the OMV machine doesn't show up on the network map of my router (it did yesterday). Going a little nuts.

It may be that after a power failure your network router doesn't reuse the same IPs for the devices. Usually the DHCP server tries to assign the same IP to the same device as long as the device has not been disconnected too long, a day or so. If some devices have fixed adresses then there may even be conflicts.

Try to set up the router to assign static adresses and host names based on the device mac adresses. And power cycle the router to make sure it remembers the settings.
