Why can't I delete files created by different users in a shared folder?

  • Hello,

There are several users created in OMW 2.1 "shared-users" (group of users) and "shared-admin" (group of administrators), when adding / creating files in the shared folder by user "shared-users", this file cannot be deleted by user "shared-admin".

I need to give full access to file operations (read, write, delete) to user "shared-admin" (group administrators).

    Any suggestions.

    Thank!

  • Create a shared folder.
    A) Give it R/W permissions for a user from "shared-users".

    B) Do the same but for a user from "shared-admin".

Then look at the ACL of both shared folders.

What is listed in the permissions of owner and group?

When you cannot delete a file or folder with a "shared-admin" user, look at the ACL of this shared folder (or its parent folder).
Are they different from those you have seen in B) ?
If so, change them accordingly, activate "Apply permissions to files and subfolders" and klick Apply.
Try to delete the file in question again.

ADDENDUM: According to Volker Theile's openmediavault Documentation, Release 4.0.0 (p. 31), just use "Apply permissions to files and subfolders". (This resets just the Linux permissions.)
    Deselect "Replace all existing permissions".
