  • Forgive me, as I'm a noob with OMV. How do I get the 0.5 MiniDLNA plugin? Should it just populate in my plugin list when I click Check? If that is the case, does that mean that I need to wait for my machine to catch up and add it to the list?
    Thanks!
    Ted

  • I thought that I had done that back when I upgraded to OMV 0.5, but I'm not 100% on that. Now when I either try to download the OMV-Extras plugin or do it thru a Putty session, I am getting 404 errors.

Sorry about the 404 errors. Forgot to change the location...

  • No worries, it's installing now. However, it has been sitting on "Setting up libid3tag0 (0.15.1b-10) ..." for a while. I am guessing that this is based on the number of titles that I have in my library?

It doesn't start minidlna by default. So, it shouldn't be scanning your library. There isn't much I can do to change the speed of installation on debian packages (which libid3tag0 is). Did it finally install?

  • Nope, it's been sitting at the same spot for a few hours now. I've been a little afraid to exit out and try again.

The web interface may have timed out. You can close it without worry because the installation is running as a background process. Close it and log back in. Let me know if it installed ok.

  • That appears to be the case. I refreshed the page and it is installed.
However, after setting it up, I can not see it from my new LG tv, nor from my old Sony. With the older version (I was running 0.2 up until recently), the Sony could see the MiniDNLA on OMV, it just couldn't play any content. I am guessing that is because it doesn't transcode like Serviio does. The LG was just picked up two weeks ago, which was after I upgraded the OMV box to 0.5, but I figured that it should work with this.

  • With DLNA servers they need to have a proper profile, or a generic profile, that will work with your TV. If there is a profile on a different version of MiniDLNA that works for any of your TVs you can probably copy that profile over to any version of MiniDLNA.

No, it is the same minidlna package from omv-plugins.org. I didn't change anything with it. I guess I could compile my own binary and package it.

  • Ok, so, where do we get the profiles and where in OMV do we put them?

  • Hey guys!
I've been having issues with minidlna in that it doesn't seem to start.
I'll set everything up, save the settings then apply it through the yellow bar that comes up, but then I won't see minidlna anywhere in the process list. When I then go back to the settings page, none of the settings have been saved and the enabled box is off.

Sounds like the config.xml is messed up and/or something didn't upgrade right from a previous version.
