I would like to share with you how I updated to linux 5.*.
There are two options:
1) Debian Experimental:

Currently, this gives 5.0
2) Creating a Debian package yourself:

tar xvf linux-5.0.11.tar
cd linux-5.0.11
cp -v /boot/config-$(uname -r) .config
CONFIG_SYSTEM_TRUSTED_KEYRING=n >> .config
CONFIG_SYSTEM_TRUSTED_KEYS="" >> .config
make menuconfig
make deb-pkg
dpkg -i ../*.deb-pkg
edit /etc/default/grub --> GRUB_DEFAULT=0
Code
sudo update-grub
