    • How to install new Kernel on OMV from Source

      Hello,

I would like to share with you how I updated to linux 5.*.
      There are two options:
      1) Debian Experimental:
      unix.stackexchange.com/questio…atest-rc-kernel-on-debian
      Currently, this gives 5.0

      2) Creating a Debian package yourself:

      Source Code

      1. apt-get install libncurses-dev build-essential libncurses5-dev gcc libssl-dev grub2 bc
      2. wget https://cdn.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v5.x/linux-5.0.11.tar.xz
      3. xz -v -d linux-5.0.11.tar.xz
      4. wget https://cdn.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v5.x/linux-5.0.11.tar.sign
      5. gpg --verify linux-5.0.11.tar.sign
      6. tar xvf linux-5.0.11.tar
      7. cd linux-5.0.11
      8. cp -v /boot/config-$(uname -r) .config
      9. CONFIG_SYSTEM_TRUSTED_KEYRING=n >> .config
      10. CONFIG_SYSTEM_TRUSTED_KEYS="" >> .config
      11. make menuconfig
      12. make deb-pkg
      13. dpkg -i ../*.deb-pkg
      Display All

      edit /etc/default/grub --> GRUB_DEFAULT=0

      Source Code

      1. sudo update-grub

      Regards,
      Hendrik
