can't ssh in server

Hi like title can't login by ssh in server while it is activated and i know i have the right pw for it,what copuld be going wrong here?
Need ssh to execute a script for plugins.
please advice

Allready know what the problem is,wrong password.
Thought i set it right withe installing omv.
How can i change pw for ssh?
I cant ssh into the server so can't execute command through shell.

Sorry can't seem to find the terminal locally.
Can start putty then i get asked for login:root
Then i get aked for password but i can't get in.
Is there where i put in your suggestion of su paswwd usernam?

When i login to putty with new user/ssh/sudo goups it says it can't chdir to baas(new user i made up)
Ican login by the nwe name and pw through ftp with fillezilla by the way
