duckDNS docker - url and router settings for accessing OMV from outside

  • I've installed the duckDNS docker container (with TechnoDads Video tutorial. So I guess I got the basic setup right).

Of course I've set up a duckdns account with a subdomain.

However TechnoDad doesn't cover how to access the OMV NAS from outside?

    https://[subdomain].duckdns.org doesn't work.
Do I have to make DDNS settings to my router, port forwarding etc.?

  • Depends on what you want to do.
You could install the letsencrypt docker for https access or install a vpn.

Right now your duckdns should point to the external ip of your router. To access the network port forwarding would be necessary but should be treated with caution.

Yes, you will have to forward ports on your router. He covers this pretty thoroughly in his Nextcloud videos (it's brain dead simple). Is it safe to assume you're trying to set up Nextcloud?
