One other option you have is to just reinstall OMV or connect the drives from the server to another linux device.
That should work unless the data drives are encrypted.

You can also just boot a live distro and check if you can access the data. For example Linux Mint Cinnamon. Similar to use as Windows.

Doubt the drives are encrypted. I guess i'll reinstall it. they have rather huge drives in it so I really don't want to reinstall it. Guess ill try to figure out what the boot disk is and we will see what happens come forth the next hours :P. Thank you for the help!

Confusing.
When you try a reinstall make sure to disconnect the data drives to make sure you do not install on the wrong drive.

Well then don't reinstall.
The key issue is, you have no way of logging in (via console or webUI) to try and diagnose a problem. If you don't want to reinstall... then don't. You've been provided a link on how to chroot the install and change the root password. Once the root password is changed and you can at least log in at the console, we can try to troubleshoot this.
The other big issue is, you don't know if the drives are encrypted. If by chance they are, you go thrashing the OS and reinstalling... there's a distinct possibility that data is gone.
Unfortunately trying to troubleshoot this from the log in screen is absolutely impossible.
Change the root password as you have been instructed (Ubuntu or Mint Live ISO's on a flash drive is fine)... Follow the instructions you've been given to change the root password, then once you can log in, come back here and we can figure out the webUI/connection issue.
Do not reinstall. That may kill all data.
Reset the root password.
ZitatAlso resetting the root password is in my capability range, just getting there right now, isn't
That deserves an explanation.

I hope we're not helping the jilted boyfriend.... If he got there to take the pic, it doesn't make sense he can't get there to boot a Live USB
Very quiet here...
